Abstract:
A pivotal coupling has plastics components (20, 30) with mutually engageable toothed parts (24, 34) to maintain them in a number of angular relationships. Components (20, 30) also include sockets or plugs (22, 32) to engage tubes (12, 14). In the event of structural failure of plastics components (20, 30) the coupling will still be held together by further hinge (70) having steel plates (72-73) inset into components (20, 30) and attached both to them and to tubes (12, 14). The coupling is useful for adjustable handles of prams or strollers where climatic extremes of heat or cold may lead to embrittlement of plastics components and their sudden failure.
