To obtain a liquid anhydrous composition suitable for a detergent for laundry, a composition for cleaning a toilet bowl, a composition for cleaning a carpet, a cleaning composition for washing dishes, or the like by including a specific monoperoxy-acid or the like, an organic solvent compatible with the anhydrous peracid and an ordinary detergent component compatible with the peracid.
This liquid anhydrous composition comprises (A) a monoperoxy- acid {preferably the one of the formula R1-COOOH [R1 is a 4-11 (substituted) hydrocarbon] such as monoperoxy-glutaric acid, monoperoxy-adipic acid and monoperoxy-pimelic acid] or a diperoxy-acid [preferably the one of the formula HOOOC-R3-COOOH [R3 is a 3-10C (substituted) hydrocarbon] such as diperoxy-2 ethylglutaric acid, diperoxy-2,4-dimethylglutaric acid and diperoxy-2-methyladipic acid] or a mixture thereof, (B) an organic solvent compatible with the anhydrous peracid and (C) an ordinary detergent component compatible with the peracid.
