Title:
ANNIHILATION PROCESSING METHOD FOR MINOR ACTINOID NUCLEAR SPECIES
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2668643
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To burn a minor actionid nuclear species having a long half-life in a fast reactor core with the minimum effect of rare earth elements.
CONSTITUTION: Neptunium is added to the minor actionid nuclear species separated from the spent fuel in a fast reactor core (inside core 10 and/or outside core 12), and americium and rare earth elements are added to one or both of a radial blanket 16 and an axial blanket 14 to be burned. In the case of a burner reactor americium and rare earth elements may be added to a shielding body to be burned. Curium may be added together with americium and rare earth elements. The additive quantity of neptunium is set to 2-5% of the fuel weight, and the additive quantity of rare earth elements is set to 50% or below. The purex process is used for separating neptunium, and the truex process is used for separating americium and curium.
