Abstract:

To provide a material having a high refractive index which allows the easy control of a ring opening polymerization reaction.

Disclosed is a cyclic thiocarbonate represented by formula (1), wherein X and Y each independently represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, R1and R2each represents a 1-4C alkyl group, and R3and R4each represents a 1-8C alkylene chain, provided that each of R1, R2, R3and R4may contain a sulfur atom and may contain a cyclic structure. A polymerizable composition comprising the above cyclic thiocarbonate and, as an optional component, an organic compound having a functional group that reacts with the above cyclic thiocarbonate is also disclosed.
