The antenna assembly comprises a feeding/radiating element formed on a ground board and being connected with a high frequency circuit for wireless communication, at least one parasitic radiating element 4 formed on the ground board at a predetermined interval from the feeding/radiating element, and a variable reactance element 12 having one end connected with the parasitic radiating element 4 and the other end connected with the ground board wherein the directivity is varied by varying the reactance of the variable reactance element 12 thereby varying the electromagnetic coupling state between the feeding/radiating element and the parasitic radiating element 4. A transmission line 11 having a predetermined constant line length is connected to at least one side of the one and the other end sides of the variable reactance element 12.
