PURPOSE: To attain transmission and reception of a radio wave over a wide range of frequency by varying the intensity of light irradiated onto a PIN diode so as to switch the connection/disconnection of stubs thereby matching the impedance.
CONSTITUTION: The system is constituted in a way that the impedance matching is taken at a frequency f0 with stubs 5, 6 added thereto and taken at a frequency f1 when the stubs 5, 6 are disconnected. With the operating frequency band of f0-f1, laser diodes(LD) 9, 10 are stimulated at a frequency close to the frequency f1 to irradiate an optical signal to PIN didoes(Dod) 7, 8 through optical fiber cables (Fvr) 11, 12. With the optical signal is irradiated, the Dod 7, 8 are nonconductive, the stubs 5, 6 are disconnected from dipoles 2a, 2b and the antenna is matched at the frequency f1. With the operating frequency close to the frequency f0, the diodes Ld 9, 10 are not stimulated and the studs 5, 6 remain connected. The antenna is matched at the frequency f0 in this state. Thus, the impedance matching is taken at the frequencies f0-f1.
