PURPOSE: To reduce the directional dependability of a rear scattered wave, by varying the thickness of a radiant conductor element on the dielectric substrate of a microstrip antenna, and constituting a part of a cylinder plane by the outside of the radiant conductor element.
CONSTITUTION: The radiation characteristic of the microstrip antenna 1 is decided by the feeding position of the antenna, the measure of the dielectric substrate 5, the dielectric constant of a dielectric body in use, and the shape of a plane confronting with the dielectric substrate 5 of the radiant conductor element 4, and it does not depend on the outside shape of the dielectric substrate 5 of the radiant conductor element 4. Variation is attached on the thickness of the radiant conductor element 4, and the thickness is varied so as to constitute a part of a cylinder that is an antenna base 2. The characteristic of the antenna is not changed even by varying the shape in such a way, and furthermore, since the outside of the radiant conductor element 4 constitues a part of the cylinder, it is possible to remarkably reduce the directional dependability of an effective reflecting width.
