PURPOSE: To obtain a new anthraquinone compound showing a transparent beautiful yellow, excellent in solubility, heat resistance, light resistance, etc., useful as a coloring matter for sublimation transfer, color toner, optical color filter, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This anthraquinone compound is shown by formula I (X is a 1-12C alkyl or a halogen) such as 1-hydroxy-4-chloro-5,6,7,8- tetrafluoroanthraquinone. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a phenol compound of formula II (R is H or methyl) with tetrafluorophthalic acid (anhydride). The reaction is preferably carried out in an organic solvent at 100-250°C, preferably 170-230°C. For example, an electrophotographic color toner can be obtained by blending 0.1-10 pts.wt., preferably 1-6 pts.wt. of at least one of a compound of formula I with 100 pts.wt. of the binder resin.
