EXAMPLE: 1, 4, 5, 8-Tetramethoxy-2, 3: 6, 7-anthraquinonetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride.
USE: A raw material for preparing high polymeric condensed polycyclic compounds, e.g. a raw material for preparing novel compounds of formula II useful as a high polymeric electronic material, acting as an electron acceptor, and having the property of forming a charge transfer complex with a suitable electron donor.
PROCESS: A compound of formula III and a compound of formula IV are reacted with H2SO4 according to the reaction formulas to give a compound of formula V, which is then treated with potassium permanganate and acetic anhydride one after another to afford the aimed compound, e.g. a compound of formula VI.
