Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the subject anti-cancer agent containing 1-(2,3- dihydroxyphenyl)-1-pentadecanol as the active component, having an excellent anti-cancer effect against various cancer cells without an antibacterial effect and almost free from side effects.
CONSTITUTION: An anti-cancer agent containing 1-(2,3-dihydroxyphenyl)-1- pentadecanol represented by the formula as the active component, having a remarkable anti-cancer effect without an antibacterial effect, showing a life- prolongation effect and almost free from side effects. The compound of the formula is obtained, e.g. by reacting 2,3-dihydroxybenzaldehyde with a grignard reagent.
