ANTI-CONTAMINATION THRUST BALANCING SYSTEM FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINE

PURPOSE: To prevent a foreign matter from flowing into a downstream side cavity by reducing a pressure in a buffer cavity below pressures in a first subchamber and a second subchamber and preventing air stream leaking from a seal means from flowing into the first subchamber from the second subchamber.
CONSTITUTION: A buffer cavity 56 is formed between a cavity 42 in front of a turbine rotor and a cavity 50 in a discharge end part of TOBI(tangential onboard injector) 46 which are away in two axial directions to seal sections among them by labyrinth seals 58, 60, 71 as a first to a third seal means. A pressure in the cavity 42 is increased up to a higher value than a pressure in the cavity 50, a pressure in the buffer cavity 56 is affected by a pressure in a dead rim region 50, and either of a plurality of plenums is communicated with a region which is close to an engine flow passage and has further lower pressure so that a pressure in the buffer cavity 56 is kept to be lower than the pressure in the cavity 50 and considerably lower than the pressure in the cavity 42.
