PURPOSE: To provide an anti-fouling pigment capable of preventing the adhesion of fouling life for a long period and protecting ships and marine constructions without environmental pollution, by compounding an anti-fouling agent based on a hardly soluble copper compound with a hardly water-soluble reducing metal or alloy having low redox potential.

CONSTITUTION: The objective pigment is prepared by compounding (A) an anti- fouling agent based on a hardly soluble copper compound (a water-insoluble copper compound having a solubility of ≤1×10-4mol/1 in a sea water at 8.2pH and 20°C, e.g. cuprous oxide, copper rhodanide, etc.) with (B) ≤30wt% of a hardly water-soluble reducing metal or alloy having lower redox potential than the component (A) (zinc, antimony, tin or their alloy having a paticle size of preferably ≤250mesh).

EFFECT: The preparation and the application of the anti-fouling pigment can be carried out in a similar manner as those of a copper-based anti-fouling pigment free from reducing metal or alloy.
