PURPOSE: The titled external agent, containing 2-[4-(2-thienylcarbonyl)ph]nyl] propionic acid as an active constituent, useful as an anti-inflammatory agent, and having improved percutaneous absorption.
CONSTITUTION: An external agent containing 2-[4-(2-thienylcarbonyl)phenyl] propionic acid expressed by the formula or a salt thereof as an active constituent in the form of an ointment. The compound expressed by the formula has been used as a drug for the internal use of an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent. The drug for the internal use in once absorbed in the body and then transferred to the blood and the affected part to act thereon. Therefore, much time is required, and the drug concentration acting on the affected part is low to produce only the low remedial effect in comparison with the dose. The resultant external agent is well absorbable through the skin, and exhibits improved anti-inflammatory effects. Preferably, the dosage form is a gel ointment, oily or fatty ointment, water-soluble ointment of emulsion ointment.
