Abstract:
The invention relates to antimicrobial copolymers that are obtained by copolymerization of aliphatically unsaturated monomers that are functionalized by an ester group and at least singly by a tertiary amine group (component I) with another aliphatically unsaturated monomer that is at least singly functionalized by an amine group (component II), whereby component I and component II are different. Further aliphatically unsaturated monomers can be used as the component III for copolymerization. The antimicrobial polymers of the invention can be used as a microbicidal coating inter alia on hygiene articles or in the medical field as well as in lacquers and protective coatings.
