PURPOSE: To obtain the antialgal.antifungal.antibacterial agent for admixture with cements, exhibiting excellent antialgal.antifungal.antibacterial effects over a long period without inhibiting the setting hardening of the cements.
CONSTITUTION: This antialgal.antifungal.antibacterial agent contains 50-100wt.%, preferably 90-100wt.%, of the powder of cuprous oxide (Cu2O), and 0-50wt.%, preferably 0-10wt.%, of the powder of a silver-containing substance. The silver-containing substance has an action to reinforce the antimicrobial effect of the cuprous oxide, and is especially used when high antialgal.antifungal effects are required. When the extent of the requirement is low, the content of the silver-containing substance may be low and, if necessary, may be zero. The antialgal.antifungal.antibacterial agent can be mixed with Portland cement, mixed cements, alumina cement, calcined gypsum, etc.
