To obtain the subject agent useful for alleviating and preventing inflammations and allergic symptoms, etc., containing ellagitannin of GOD type as an active ingredient contained in a rosaceous plant as an active ingredient.

This antiallergic agent comprises ellagitannin of GOD type which has inhibitory action on histmine liberation and exhibits an antiallergic action comparable to that of existing antiallergic agents as an active ingredient. The ellagitannin has a structural unit of the formula (R1 and R2 are each independently H, galloyl group, etc.).
