Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an antiaromatase agent containing, as an active ingredient, a low toxic azole derivative having a non-steroid type chemical structure entire ly different from that of e.g. 4-hydroxyandrostenedione.
CONSTITUTION: This antiaromatase agent containing compound (s) selected from azole derivatives of formula I (Y is N or CH; R1 and R2 are each H or 1-5C alkyl; R3 is halogen, 1-5C alkyl, haloalkyl, phenyl, cyano or nitro; n is an integer of 0-5), salts thereof and steric isomers thereof (for example, R1 and R2 are each H; R3 is 4-F; n is 1; Y is N). The configuration of the compound of the formula I is e.g. of a compound of formula II or III. This agent is especially useful for aromatic ring-bearing steroid hormone-dependent diseases such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, pancreatic cancer, or Cushing's syndrome cancer.
