NEW MATERIAL:2,5-Substituted pyridines of formula I (X1 is H, halogen atom; X2 is halogen atom, CF3; Y is O, S, sulfinyl, sulfonyl; Z is halogen atom, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, CF3, nitro; R is H, lower alkyl, lower acyl, lower alkanesulfonyl, cation; n is 0W4).
EXAMPLE: 2-Methyl-4-(3-chloro-5-trifluoromethylpyridin-2-yloxy)phenol.
USE: Antibacterial for agriculture and horticulture: they show excellent controlling effect on Rust, Anthranose, Blast, Sheath blight, in particular, they show excellent activity of controlling rice blast and rice sheath blight and are used as a propylactic and remedy for them.
PREPARATION: For example, the reaction of compound of formula II (HAL is halogen) with another compound of formula III (R" is H, lower alkyl, acyl, lower alkanesulfonyl; Y' is O and S) is conducted in the presence of an alkaline substance in a solvent to produce the compound of formula I.
