PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial agent that achieves both antibacterial performance and usability and is useful for detergents, cosmetics, paints, resins, wood preservatives, cement admixtures, water treatment agents, industrial water, paper pulp, plastic, fibers, food additives, medical equipment, optical equipment, modules, electronic products and the like.SOLUTION: An antibacterial agent contains an acrylic acid/PEA (EO5 mole adduct of allyl alcohol) copolymer, a methacrylic acid 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl/butyl acrylate/acrylic acid copolymer, and the like, having a solubility parameter of 14 or less and also having water solubility or water dispersibility, and a metal compound such as zinc oxide, silver acetate.SELECTED DRAWING: None
