To provide an antibacterial unleaded cationic electrodeposition coating composition which reduces the influence on the environment due to decreased concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and a lead ion, maintains the antibacterial properties to the same extent as before decreasing the concentrations of the VOC and lead ion and, in addition, excels in electrodeposition performance.
In the antibacterial unleaded cationic electrodeposition coating composition comprising an aqueous medium, a cationic epoxy resin and a binder resin containing a blocked isocyanate curing agent which are dispersed or dissolved in the aqueous medium, a neutralizing acid for neutralizing the cationic epoxy resin, an organic solvent, and an antibacterial agent, the content of volatile organic matter is ≤2 wt.% and the antibacterial agent is an isothiazolone based compound.
