Abstract:
To obtain a new antibiotic cillianon useful as a interleukin-A antagonist and produced from a specific fungus in fermentation.
This compound is represented by the formula {R1 and R2 are each CnH2n-R3, OR3, SR3 or NHR3 [R3 is H, a 1-6C alkanoyl or a (substituted) 1-6C alkyl; (n) is 1-6] or both groups form a 3-9C (substituted) alicyclic group together with carbon} or its salt. The compound is obtained by fermenting Penicillum species HAG0,259 in a nutrient medium containing a carbon source, a nitrogen source, an inorgnaic salt and a trace element and then isolating sillianon from the culture broth. The compound is useful for treatment or prevention of allergic, viral, parasitic and bacterial diseases and fungal infection.
