PURPOSE: To provide the new antibody excellent in binding activity and binding specificity to human nitrogen monoxide synthase (human NOS), thus useful for the fractionation, high-level purification, physiological activity analysis, etc., for various human NOSs.
CONSTITUTION: The antibody specifically binding to (A) NOS in the human hemangioendothelial cells, (B) NOS in the human cerebellum, or (C) both the NOS A and B, can be obtained using, as antigen, a peptide of formula I, II, III or IV, or the NOS purified from human blood. Specifically, this antibody can be obtained by the following method: a mammal is immunized with the peptide of the formula I, II, III or IV, or the purified human NOS, the antibody- productive cells of this mammal are fused with myeloma cells to produce hybridoma; the hybridoma capable of producing monoclonal antibodies binding to the respective peptides are retrieved and cloned; the resultant clone is proliferated in a nutritive medium or in the abdomen of a mammal, and the product is recovered and purified.
