Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a therapeutic agent for diseases in which a human betacellulin protein participates and a means for diagnosing the diseases.

CONSTITUTION: This antibody is capable of specifically binding to a human betacellulin protein or its mutein, especially a monoclonal antibody, having 140000-160000 molecular weight, divided into an immunoglobulin class belonging to IgG without carrying out the cross reaction with a human epidermal growth factor(EGF) and a human transforming growth factor a(TGF α) and capable of specifically binding to the human betacellulin protein and neutralizing biological activities of the human betacellulin protein. Furthermore, this means is capable of detecting and determining the betacellulin protein and further diagnosing diabetes or its complications, etc., in which the betacellulin protein participates.
