To provide an antifoaming agent which is excellent in antifoaming properties (initial antifoaming properties and antifoaming stability) and does not generate coagulation and scum of antifoaming agent components.
The antifoaming agent is used which contains synthetic resin fine particles (A) in a dispersed state in a polyether compound (B), wherein the content of the synthetic resin fine particles (A) is 0.5-10 wt.% and the content of the polyether compound (B) is 90-99.5 wt.% based on the weight of the synthetic resin fine particles (A) and the polyether compound (B). It is preferable that the volume mean particle diameter of the synthetic resin fine particles (A) is 0.1-17 μm. It is preferable that at least one of monomers composing the synthetic resin fine particle (A) is a polyoxyalkylene group-containing monomer.
