PURPOSE: To obtain an antifogging article which has a transparent antifogging layer excellent in initial antifogging properties and their persistence.

CONSTITUTION: The surface of an article, such as glass, a mirror, or a plastic film, is covered with an antifogging layer comprising a polyvinyl acetal resin (e.g. polyvinylphenyl acetoacetal, polyvinyl benzacetal, or polyvinyl butyral) having a degree of acetalization of 2-40mol%, or with a water-sol. resin layer (e.g. one formed from polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, or polyacrylamide) followed by the formation of the antifogging layer thereon.
