To provide an antifouling coating composition which forms an antifouling layer having excellent fouling resistance, excellent resistance to hot water, and self-cleaning capabilities, is environmentally friendly since no organic solvent is used, and does not cause dissolution, swelling, or the like of an underlying coating film having susceptibility to organic solvents, and a method for forming an antifouling coating film.
The antifouling coating composition is provided, which contains (a) 0.1-10.0 mass% (in terms of solid contents) of water-dispersible colloidal silica, (b) 0.01-1.0 mass% (in terms of solid contents) of two or more non-ionic surfactants, and (c) 89-99 mass% of water as principal components and does not contain an organic solvent. The method for forming an antifouling coating film comprising the composition is also provided.
