To obtain the subject composition capable of being stored for a long period of time even when mixing with a copper-based antifouling agent without trouble such as thickening or lowering, or the like, of physical properties of a coated film and useful for hulls, or the like, by including a resin, a copper- based antifouling agent and a chelating agent.
This composition contains (A) a resin, (B) a copper-based antifouling agent (preferably cuprous oxide) and (C) a chelating agent (preferably acetylacetone or ethyl acetoacetate). As the component A, at least one kind selected from an acrylic resin, a polyester-based resin and a silyl-based resin is used. The component A is the resin (a) having a metallic carboxylic structure in which an equivalent value ratio of carboxyl group to a bivalent metal is 0.1-5 in a base resin having an acid value of 10-300 mgKOH/g. The resin (a) is obtained by reacting an oxide or hydroxide of the bivalent metal with the base resin in the presence of water in an amount of 1-30 wt.% based on a solid component of the base resin.
