To provide an isolated and purified antifungal protein MAFP1 obtained from a Monascus species, an isolated and purified polynucleotide containing a nucleotide sequence encoding the same, and to provide usage thereof.

The isolated and purified antifungal protein obtained from the Monascus species or a biologically functional equivalent thereof are disclosed.
