PURPOSE: To obtain the subject fiber, having resistance to washing and excellent in antimicrobial and antifungal activities by predispersing zeolite-based solid particles holding antimicrobial metallic ions in a solution of a cellulosic derivative in an organic solvent, adding the resultant dispersion to a solution of an acrylonitrile-based copolymer and spinning the obtained solution.
CONSTITUTION: Zeolite-based solid particles holding metallic ions (e.g. silver or copper) having antimicrobial activity are predispersed in a solution of a cellulosic derivative (e.g. acetylcellulose or acetylpropionylcellulose) in an organic solvent and the resultant dispersion is then added to a solution of a copolymer containing acrylonitrile as main constituent units in an organic solvent. The resultant solution is subsequently spun to afford the objective fiber, containing the cellulosic derivative present in a state of phase separation and 0.1-10wt.% zeolite-based solid particles holding the antimicrobial activity mainly in the cellulosic derivative.
