This antimicrobial agent and a deodorizer comprises an extract as an active ingredient obtained by extracting a bud or a petal of a plant of the family Rosaceae of at least one kind selected from Rosa canina, Rosa gallicaofficinalis, Rosa rubiginosa, Rosa damascena trigintipetala, Rosa centifolia and Rosa rugosarubra with water, a hydrophilic organic solvent or a mixed solvent of water and the hydrophilic organic solvent.
