Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an antimicrobial agent expectable to have strongly antimicrobial activity by addition to foods, etc., having high safety because of being derived from a natural product and inhibitory action on the growth of microorganisms in a wide range.
CONSTITUTION: 2-Acetyl,3-methyl,6-methoxy,8-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone of the formula showing inhibitory action on the growth of microorganisms in a wide range, especially suitable for addition to foods and an antitumor agent containing the compound as an active ingredient.
