The antimicrobial and antiviral polymeric material includes a microscopic water-insoluble particle of copper of an ion of a powder form, wherein the particle is a mixture of CuO and Cu₂O, discharges Cu++, and is enclosed in a condition that a portion of the particle is exposed at the polymeric material, and projects from the surface of the polymeric material.
