To provide an antimicrobial composition and a glaze that can manifest marked antimicrobial effect by coating the surfaces of tableware, sanitary earthenware, enamel material and the like with this composition.

The objective antimicrobial composition is prepared by coating feldspar particles or a composite ceramics prepared by firing a mixture thereof with calcium phosphate having an average particle size of 1-30 μm, with silver particles with a particle size of ≤1 μm in an amount of 5-50 wt.% based on the weight of the feldspar. The glaze is prepared by using 0.1-10 wt.% of this antimicrobial composition.
