To obtain an antimicrobial insole, excellent in perspiration resistance and capable of manifesting antimicrobial and deodorizing effects and sustaining the effects for a long period.
This antimicrobial insole is obtained by including 0.01-5wt.% salicylic acid derivative represented by formula I [Z is H or M/(i); M is an (i)-valent metal; (i) is an integer; (m) is 0-10; (n) is 1 or 2; R1 and R2 are each H or methyl; R3 is H, a 1-4C alkyl or a halogen] therein. The derivative represented by formula I is prepared by reacting a salicylic acid or a salicylic acid derivative represented by formula II (R is H or a 1-4C alkyl) with a benzyl derivative represented by formula III (Y is a halogen, hydroxyl group or a 1-4C alkoxy), a styrene derivative, etc., represented by formula IV.
