Abstract:

PURPOSE: An antimycotic composition that contains tolnaftate, methyl ethyl ketone, triacetin and alcohol, thus exerting its effect of the affected part for a long period of time without tackiness an precipitation of fine crystals of tolnaftate.

CONSTITUTION: Tolnaftate, 0.5W3wt%, methyl ethyl ketone as a low-boiling solubilizer for tolnaftate, 5W30wt%, triacetin as a medium-boiling solubilizer, 5W40wt% and alcohol in an balancing amount are mixed, further preferably combined with monoglyceride and/or diglyceride of 2W12C carboxylic acid as a base for tolnaftate to give the objective antimycotic composition. The resultant composition develops sufficiently antiseptic action without side-effects, when externally applied to skins, hairs and nails. The alcohol is preferably ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol. The amount of the glycerides is preferably 1W10wt% on the composition.
