To obtain an antioxidant agent that develops its antioxidant effect to inhibit the oxidation of skin lipids, oxidative damage to skin and skin aging by using an extract from a specific plant growing in Central and South America and formulating it to cosmetics or the like.
This antioxidant contains, as an active ingredient, an extract from Culen, a plant growing in Central and South America, preferably Psoralea pubescens or Psoralea mexicana by extracting a part of the plants such as flower, seed, leaf, root or the whole plant part. The formulation of the Culen extract is 0.00001-10.0wt.% on the dry basis. This antioxidant agent is formulated to a variety of cosmetics, for example, cream, lotion, milk lotion, hair oil, shampoo, rinse or the like.
