To provide an antireflection film having preferable adhesiveness between a hard coat layer and an antireflection layer and excellent scratch resistance and durability, in particular, suitable for a flat panel display (liquid crystal display, plasma display, EL display or the like) and a CRT display and to provide a method for manufacturing the film.

The antireflection film is composed of a transparent film substrate, a hard coat layer formed on the transparent film substrate, and an antireflection layer deposited on the hard coat layer. The hard coat layer has a ruggedness with 25 to 170 height on the surface to be in contact with the antireflection layer.
