To provide an antistatic agent for a pressure-sensitive adhesive forming a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer having good antistatic properties and hardly sticking foreign materials such as dirt onto the surface by compounding the antistatic agent in the pressure-sensitive adhesive.

The antistatic agent for the pressure-sensitive adhesive is composed of a compound as follows. A diol compound to which an alkali metal atom is added is bonded to a diisocyanate compound with a urethane bond (-NHCO-). The compound has an isocyanate group (-NCO) at the end. The diol compound is preferably a condensate of a 2-100C straight-chain or branched alkylene glycol. The alkali metal atom is preferably a lithium atom.
