PURPOSE: To obtain an antistatic agent excellent in heat resistance, mechanical strength, permanent antistatic property, and compatibility with a thermoplastic resin by using as an antistatic ingredient a polyetheresteramide derived from a specific polyamide and a specific polyether diol.
CONSTITUTION: The title antistatic agent comprises a polyetheresteramide (a) derived from a polyamide (b) containing a COOH group at each end and having a number-average mol.wt. of 500-5,000 and a polyether diol (c) having a number- average mol.wt. of 1,500-3,000, at least either of the ingredients (b) and (c) having a thioether group. An example of the compound (a) is obtained by reacting an ethylene oxide adduct of bisphenol A with a polyamide oligomer obtained from -caprolactam and thiodiacetic acid.
