To obtain antistatic agent for a resin comprising an aromatic polymer containing a specific sulfonic acid base salt, hardly causing a color problem, capable of manifesting excellent antistatic properties by a small adding amount within a short time, and maintaining the antistatic properties for a long time and excellent in resistance to washing.
This antistatic agent for a resin comprises a polymer consisting essentially of a repeating unit 1 of formula I (X is H or methyl; M is an organic amines or an organic phosphorus; SO3M group is positioned at 3- to 5-positions of a benzene ring) and a repeating unit 2 of formula II [M is a basic organic group of at least one of organic amines and organic phosphoruses; (n) is 0 or 1; at least one of SO3M group exists at the ortho-position of the benzene ring] regulated so that the molar ratio of the unit 1 to the unit 2 may be within the range of (98/2) to (80/20), and having 1,000-1,000,000 weight average molecular weight.
