USE: Antibiotic substance BBM-1644 active to inhibit the proliferation of gram- positive and acid-fast bacteria, and inhibit the progress of P388 leukemia of mouse.
PROCESS: A BMM-1644-producing strain of Actinomadura species [e.g. Actinomadura H-710-49 (ATCC-39144)] is cultured in an aqueous medium containing assimilable C and N sources in an aerated deep-tank fermentor.
