USE: A fungicidal agent having excellent effect to the pathogenic fungi of blossom blight of apple (Valsa ceratosperma).
PREPARATION: A bacterial strain belonging to Streptomyces genus and capable of producing 1166E substance [Streptomyces hygroscopicus D-1166 (FERM-P No.4771)] is cultured, and the objective 1166E substance of formula is separated from the culture product. The compound of formula has the following physicochemical properties. Molecular formula, C34H56O8; molecular weight, 592.788; [α]d25, +49.5° (C=0.055, in methanol); melting point, 95W96.5°C; solubility, soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, n-butanol, etc., insoluble in n-hexane and water, etc.; appearance, colorless crystal; etc.
