NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by the formula having the following physicochemical properties: Appearance, white powder, solid or crystal; molecular formula, C27H37NO3; elemental analysis (%): C 76.38 and H 7.78; melting point, exhibiting no clear decomposition point (melting point) till 270°C; mass spectrum: FAB-MS (m/z) 424,2868 [M+H]+; solubility, hardly soluble in water, slightly soluble in methanol and soluble in dimethylsulfoxide; neutral substance, etc.

USE: An antiulcer substance.

PREPARATION: A microorganism capable of producing BE-14106 such as Streptomyces espi-A14106 strain (FERM P-11378) or variant thereof is subjected to shake culture or submerged culture, preferably at 25-30°C and pH 4-8 for 48-144hr.
