PURPOSE: To obtain an antiviral agent containing 1,4-dihydro-2,3-benzodithiin derivative as an active ingredient and hardly having toxicity and side effects.
CONSTITUTION: This antiviral agent contains a compound of the formula (R1 to R4 are each H, a lower alkyl, a lower alkenyl, an aryl, an aralkyl, nitro, cyano, carboxyl, a lower alkylsulfinyl, sulfamoyl, an acyl, a halogen, etc.) or its salt as an active ingredient. The compound has excellent antiviral action and is effective in preventing and treating viral diseases represented by respiratory diseases such as upper respiratory infection, lower respiratory infection, bronchitis, capillary bronchitis and croup in which respiratory syncytial(RS) virus participates. The antiviral agent is blended with arbitrary required additives for medicines and the blend is prepared according to an ordinary method and the daily dose of the compound is 10-1000mg, preferably 100-500-mg/ adult.
