PURPOSE: To provide a new antiviral agent having broad antiviral spectrum and exhibiting strong antiviral action and, accordingly, useful for the prevention and treatment of viral infectious diseases and effective in treating even viruses resistant to conventional antiviral agents.
CONSTITUTION: The objective antiviral agent is composed mainly of a new compound of formula (R1 is alkyl, acyl, etc.; R2 to R4 are H, amino, etc.; A is N or methylene; (m) is 0 or natural number; (n) is natural number) and its salt, e.g. 1-(2-chlorophenyl)-4-(pyrrolidon-1-yl)acetylpiperazine. The compound of formula can be produced e.g. by mixing 1-(2-chlorophenyl)piperazine with 2-pyrrolidone-1-acetic acid methyl ester and reacting the components at 90°C for 24hr in an argon atmosphere under stirring.
