Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce a picture information transmission time in the confidential mode by storing public key information used for each destination and using the public key information before the transmission of picture information is started so as to cipher the transmission picture information. CONSTITUTION:At first the read of a scanner 4 is started to read the picture of the transmission original set to the scanner 4 at that time and a picture signal obtained therefrom is subject to encoding compression by an encoding/ decoding section 7 to form the transmission picture information. Then a public key registered in public key information of a one-operation dial table is set to a cryptographic processing unit 8, the cryptographic processing unit 8 is set to the cryptographic mode, the transmission picture information is given to the cryptographic processing unit 8, in which the information is ciphered and the cryptographic transmission picture information obtained therefrom is stored in a picture storage device 9.
