Abstract:
To provide identification, isolation and recombinant production of a new cytokine designated as Apo-2 ligand which induces mammalian cell apoptosis and to provide a method for using an Apo-2 ligand antibody and its composition.
The present invention provides an Apo-2 ligand (a polypeptide having a specific amino acid sequence) which induces mammalian cell apoptosis and the composition containing an Apo-2 ligand chimera, a nucleic acid encoding the Apo-2 ligand and the antibody to the Apo-2 ligand and provides methods for using Apo-2 ligand to induce apoptosis and to treat pathological conditions such as cancer.
