To provide an apparatus for absorbing carbon dioxide in air exhibiting greatly improved absorption efficiency.
The apparatus for absorbing carbon dioxide in air includes a rotating packed bed 1, an air pump 2, and an absorbent storage tank 3. The rotating packed bed 1 includes a sealed shell 11 whereon an air inlet 12 and an absorbent outlet 13 are disposed, with an air outlet 14 and an absorbent inlet 15 disposed on the center of the top face thereof. A packing material 17 driven to rotate at a high rotation rate by a motor 16 is disposed in the rotating packed bed 1, with a liquid distributor 18 disposed in the center of the packing material 17 to communicate with the absorbent inlet 15. The air pump 2 injects air into the inside of the shell 11 via the air inlet 12. An absorbent is introduced via the absorbent inlet 15 and sent to the center of the packing material 17 via the liquid distributor 18 formed on the end part of an absorbent introduction pipe. Air is introduced via the air inlet 12 and flows into the center via the packing material 17. The absorbent is caused to rotate at a high rotation rate to receive a centrifugal force of 100 G or greater to be ejected therefrom, and is mixed with carbon dioxide present in air at the center of the packing material 17 to carry out a chemical absorption process of absorbing carbon dioxide in air. Excess air is discharged from the air outlet 14. The absorbent that absorbs carbon dioxide is recovered into the absorbent storage tank 3.
