PURPOSE: To prevent positional shift, by using a position determining member with respect to a recording head and a platen roller provided so as to be separated into a first unit including a recording sheet conveying path and a second unit including an ink sheet conveying path.

CONSTITUTION: A first unit U1 constitutes the conveying path of a recording sheet S and a second unit U2 constitutes the conveying path of an ink sheet I. The first unit U1 is fixed while the second unit U2 is movable to a left and right direction. The sheets S, I are superposed in a recording part and conveyed while grasped under pressure by a thermal head 23 and a platen roller 12. A position determining member 51 having a notch groove is fixedly mounted to the side plate 1 of the first unit U1 so as to provide definite positional relation with respect to the platen roller 12. When the second unit is moved left, a shaft 220 is fixed by the position determining member 51 and the platen 12 and the thermal head 23 are subjected to positional determination with good accuracy.
