CONSTITUTION: Detection means 9a, 9b of sheet materials 2 are provided at the intermediate part of the feed route 50 between a perforation means 3 and a binding means 7. On the basis of this constitution, the sheet materials 2 are perforated by the perforation means 3 and a binding member 6 is fed to a binding position by a feed means 5 and the sheet materials 2 are bound by the binding means 7 through the binding member 6. At this time, on the way of the feed of the sheet materials 2 from the perforation means 3 to the binding means 7, the sheet materials 2 are detected by the detection means 90a, 90b. The posture and feed state of the sheet materials can be detected by the detection means and certain binding work is carried out.
